For more than 14 years, I — John K. Phoebus, Attorney at Law — have zealously fought for my clients in the circuit courts and district courts of Somerset County, Worcester County and Wicomico County.

Experience in the Local Courts

All Maryland courts are not the same. Hiring an attorney from the city may be a mistake. You need a local attorney who knows the local customs of our local courts.

Background

Virtually all of my practice is devoted to litigation, consisting of criminal defense and civil litigation. As a criminal defense attorney, I represent persons charged with misdemeanors such as DUI/DWI and possession of drugs as well as serious felonies such as distribution of controlled dangerous substances, weapons offenses, and crimes of violence.

Where I Practice

My practice is limited to the lower Eastern Shore of Maryland in Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester Counties, including the towns and cities of Crisfield, Princess Anne, Salisbury, Fruitland, Ocean City, Berlin, Pocomoke and Snow Hill. I also represent students at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and Salisbury University.

Giving Back to the Community

Giving back to our community is important to me. As an attorney, I co-chaired the Somerset County Pro Bono Committee for five years and donate legal services to a few non profit organizations and individuals of limited means. Outside of the practice of law, I am the past President of the Crisfield Area Chamber of Commerce, former Chair of the Wor-Wic Community College Foundation, and a member of the Board of Directors of McCready Foundation, which runs our local hospital. I am a past member of the Somerset County Economic Development Commission and, in 2003, I was honored to be appointed by Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr. to serve on the Governor's Commission on the Structure and Efficiency of State Government.
